Too many tomatoes

We had another shipment arrive from the George's Home Farm, and I was forced to make an executive decision on the fate of the tomatoes. I chose soup as their destiny.

In addition to the ones above I had another four tomatoes and some sweet peppers. So I chopped them all up and melted them down (in two separate batches) with a pinch of salt, glug of olive oil, some basil and oregano.
Here's the second batch, with the peppers.

I finished the soup with our "Boat Motor" which unlike a boat motor, chops things into little pieces. Like a boat motor, it sprays liquid around unless you have a shield. I do (my t-shirt is still white).

I ended up with a fine lunch for two, and a pair of pint jars to store in the refrigerator for those "There's nothing to eat in the house!" occasions.

Have a nice lunch.

PS Saturday we walked around the oldest winery in the SoCal region, since 1889. We didn't drink any wine as we were too early for the tastings, but we did find hummingbirds and lots of cool old tractors and winemaking things.

Chrysler Airstream! circa 1940.
