On average it takes about 40 winds full power a resonance. It takes about 25 seconds to wind it 20 times. I've been winding my Resonances for years and honestly you get used to it no matter how awkward at first. However, for some they may just find it difficult. My advice wind it half way and a few hours later wind it again. How hard can less than 1 minute be every 40 hours. IMHO winding a resonance is part of the experience of owning one. Everything about it is unique. Look how many other brands have copied it

Very good question. I will need to do some homework to list all of them. One change is that the ratchet wheels are now under the bridge. You can see that in the photo below between a ruthenium coated brass movement and the more recent gold....
Love the way they are both synchronized.
This is one of my favorite FPJ.Only hesitation I have is my perceived difficulty of the winding position.I suppose it's a matter of adjustment and getting the hang of it.

There haven't been any modifications to the movement. The change of the ratchet wheels I highlighted was only a design change and didn't impact the movement.
