Obviously the chips are very small, but do you think the watch was made that way or did the pallet jewel chip them? If the latter, do you think there are little bits of metal floating around in the movement? Tremendous picture, in any case.
Having corindon particules in the watch would lead to some potential disaster. That would tend to stick to "liquids" such as oil and if pivots were involved they would suffer from rapid abrasion.
