The old version could be bought in 38 and 40 mm. It was also same dial for that. S9 the area of the new dial has been increased slightly.

You can see some of the facelifted watches e.g. in the Octa range has been given a slightly larger dial as well and then a narrower bezel in 40 mm. No 42 mm cases in these though.

And ironically, Looking at them side by side, it makes me want to find a nice example of the 38mm (if prices ever come down a little).

The winding crown on the rq is thicker..

and the indents are a little smoother and easier to turn. Similar in feel to the crown on the octa automatique. I’ve always felt the original crown at 12 o’clock was thin enough to feel a little sharp.. All in all, it’s a lot easier to wind.

Both are fantastic and I am sitting here saying “the new one. Definitely the new. No wait, the old one. Definitely the old.” I guess having both takes care of the issue. Thanks for posting the side-by-side comparisons.
Does the 42 have a wider dial as well?

Can't quite tell from the first picture. I was told the only difference between a 40 and a 42 is the thickness of the bezel. True or false?
