I SPY - Beijing

 

Driving around Beijing is always enjoyable. Either by day

or by night.

On this particular night I was on my way to have dinner at the Park Hyatt Hotel. I arrived early and decided to explore the shopping mall that shares the same building.

As I came up the escalator on level 3 and made a turn to the right and came across the floor directory. My eyes glanced up and down but suddenly did a double take. Can you see why? Could it be? Did I really just stumble on to something? I regret not taking a photo of the grin on my face.

Then from across the floor my eyes lit up. There it was!

Could it be? I approached closer and was greeted by those beautiful gold rotor door handles.

To my left was the Centigraphe.

To my right the dead seconds.

I quickly glanced at my wrist. A Ruthenium Calendrier. Here I was in a city of over 17 million people, in a country of over a billion. Somehow unwittingly I ended up at the new FP Journe boutique. The new space is wonderful. They are still in a soft opening so still tweaking the interior design, lighting and setup. The boutique is much larger then Hong Kong and Geneva and has many display cases. Unfortunately they are all filled with dummy mock ups except for a pt dead seconds on pt bracelet and the titanium perpetual. While I was disappointed not being able to see the NY boutique yet I was very pleased to stumble across the one in Beijing!!!
