Encounter with a female F.P. Journe collector.
Sadly there are too few women interested in watches. And even fewer who can be considered collectors in the true sense of the word.
Recently I had the great privilege to meet a women who had caught the FPJ bug badly. Yes, her husband also has that same bug and so they share this hobby with equal passion. There is nothing better in this world than to share what you love with those you love. I think this is the first time I’ve encountered this in such an equal manner. Needless to say I was a bit jealous.
As you can sense from these watches, they are chosen with great care. Also, as she explained, she finds great joy in designing the straps. She spends a great amount of time and attention to work with the strap maker. This woman is clearly a stickler for details. Notice the platinum stitching on the first strap and the gold leaf detail on the second.
I had such a thrill from this meeting. I hope she can inspire many more women to dive deeper in to this hobby. What a fortunate couple.

Yes that would truly be wonderful. I don’t know how many true female watch geeks I’ve met in my life …
Not much more than a handful. But I do think watches have the potential. I’ve tried to convert my wife and although she does show a kind interest, I’m afraid it will never get much further than her support and joy on my behalf.

It makes me truly happy to hear that you are sharing your passion with your wife. Really wonderful. I think watches hold a lot of potential to be appreciated by women. Hopefully it’s just a question of time.

What is funny is she has chosen the same complications twice but they are so completely different in appearence that you hardly notice that.
Exactly. Very feminine. These pieces always come off very strong in close ups but appear differently on a person wrist.
I think they suited her well and her knowledge and passion for watches was unmistakable. She also has other pieces that made me quite envious.

Yes,exactly. she is super dedicated and thinks deeply about what she’s trying to achieve.
Of course they are very different from what we typically see on this site. She is not afraid of taking a feminine approach to the hobby. Kudos to her.
