My UTC is pretty easy to read. The only shortcoming is the globe itself which is sub-optimal when setting the timezone. But you only have to do it once. When it’s set, it’s set.

Caught in a bind - UTC vs Octa Lune

Hi all, First of all, nice day to everyone and sharing 2 photos of the only FP Journe I have on 2 straps. I am recently caught in a bind choosing between an UTC and Octa Lune. I love the off-center dial but I couldn’t decide the merits of one over the oth...

The UTC is more complicated and the function itself is more useful

But I think that aesthetically, the moonphase works better on this watch. IMO, the UTC gets a bit too busy on the dial with the colorful map and the 24 hour hand. For me, how the watch looks is usually priority #1 over everything else, so the moonphase wo...

Nice shots.

If I may ask what's your wrist size? Seems similar to my size and I'm debating bet the 40 and the 48 Elegante. In regards to your question the octa lune moon make it more dressier than the globe imho

My wrist is 6.5” [nt]

I also have a 6.5” wrist

UTC looks like a mess in utility to me

 By: dte2 : June 21st, 2020-20:53
The sub dial is really illegible especially with all those numbers cut out. By the time you are able to read the information needed you can already do the math in your head a few times over. Yes it's wonderful horology but is it functional? Not at all for...

Thanks for your insight

Though I'm still having a difficult time with the hours between 22:00 and 02:00 on the 24h dial.

I get what you’re saying.

It’s more difficult on the 2019 Resonance. But you adapt as you know 24 is at the 6 o’clock position.

Thanks for the valuable inputs

Guys, thanks for the input, I’d only managed to try the 40/42mm Octa Lune but not the UTC as it was in another branch, so I didn’t realise the dial is messy/less legible. Thanks for highlighting this! I passed on the Centigraphe as I couldn’t see the subd...

i think you should choose primarily based on aesthetics..

Unless you are travelling across timezones constantly. Which one is the bettetr looking to your eyes? think that will please you more in the long run.

Legibility is key.

I traded in my calendrier for the optimum because the time dial was too difficult for me to read at a glance. The optimum sub dial is much larger and easier to read.

Thanks to all but I ended up with a different watch in the end

Again, thanks to everyone for your inputs especially on legibility and getting something that appeals to me. Unfortunately, I did not get to try on the UTC rose gold black dial as the stock was in Thailand while only 42mm for Octa Lune plat and Octa Lune ...

There are no bad choices when it comes to Journes.

These MOP dials are really beautiful when you see them up close. And it is discontinued so you have been lucky also.

Thank you for the kind words guys!

The MOP dial is a beauty, it looks different when viewed from different angles, shimmers with bright lighting condition but flat light blue when looking straight on.
