I'm not sure about the previous numbering scheme. As far as I know, the current numbering scheme is 000-XX, and is sequential regardless of variation. So even the black label series falls within the "normal" sequence.
The only exception is the Sonnerie Souveraine, which does not have serial numbers but is named, usually after the first owner's name.
