Vacheron Constantin 42002 - views?

I recently accidentally stumbled upon the 42002 - a watch from the early years of the new millenium - and was quite taken with it. The relatively classical size (35mm x 8mm), solid caseback, nicely playful lugs and a very cool dial (not sure what you'd call the pattern - sunray?). I'm sure the watch could do without the date but I guess that at the time it was not seen as a killer hindrance.

And it has a GP derived heart in the Cal. 1312 (based on the GP3100).

It appears that at least one Purist used to own one (there is a 13 year old post from Bill here), sadly the links to the pictures no longer work. So what's your opinion? A decent dress watch? Any experiences from owners?
