The Vagabondage II
With some inspiration from Christian’s post last week on the Vagabondage I, today I grabbed the VII from the safe.
The second series saw 69 pieces in PT, 68 in RG (what you see below) and 10 pieces in PT with baguette diamonds.
Affectionately known here as the “crooked Christmas tree” the second series shows a digital time display with jumping hours and minutes and a sub seconds dial at 6. A power reserve, the Vagabondage is hand wound, is also shown on the dial above the jump hour.
The power reserve is probably my least favourite element of this watch. While it’s vital to have as the power reserve on the watch is relatively short I think from a design perspective I would have preferred it be more subtle. The red and white used here just seem out of place on the dial.
My favourite design element of this watch is the use of a smoked sapphire crystal to ensure the hour and minute wheels and plate which are visible on the dial side do not distract from the time display.
Here are some wristshots from this morning.
