The Mark series - a new acquisition!

 

Was never a fan of just collecting one model of watch, but the Omega Speedmaster has a rich history of fine variations.
I have a Speedy Pro and one regular "moon watch" was fine for me, but then there are the great variations in the Mark series.

Managed to get a Mark II a couple years ago, which planted a seed to get the others.

Found myself a very nice Mark 4.5 last week, and have been enjoying this ever since it arrived. 1045 movement and that beefy cushion case design does it for me. Nice original condition. I'll probably keep it as such.

For those who may not know, the movement rests in a case within a case -you can pop the inner case down & out from the outer case. Same design as some of the Cosmic 2000s (I have 2 of those). Crystal does appear to have been turned slightly, which is why the Tachymetre markings appear rotated slightly - it's imprinted on the glass.
This and a service are in the near future.



Next on my list is a nice Mark III. Dr. No & I saw a couple on Sunday at the NAWCC event we attended. Need to get the watch fund revitalized first smile

it may not be cosc like the speedy 125 but having owned both this is a far more wearable watch and yet again is one you could have as your only watch. congratulations on your purchase. you should enjoy it for many years to come. best Graham

...that this came with an early 1162 bracelet- has screw links. and is only marked with 1162, not the later 1162/172. Question, maybe you can help me. I think the caseback may have been replaced - it has what I thought to be the later replacement that say...

the caseback is totally correct mrsnak as is the bracelet, its one of the only speedmasters which has a seamaster caseback. there is an article about it on chuck's site. you've got a good watch there in original condition. best Graham

. . . is that I get to see his new Omegas before anyone else! One precautionary note: make sure the watchmaker that gets the job has the press to install crystals - getting them out is one thing, but putting them in is another. Regarding last weekend's NA...

A watch that will fit really nice in every chronograph collection I like the idea of "only" having one of a series and not having every single variant...however i seem not to suceed in this myself Cheers Hans

I thought these were only on the Mark IV. Very interesting if this is original. I've never seen these crystals come up for sale.
