Summer Mann

 

In order to gauge potential interest in a full-blown Art sub-forum here on WatchProSite, I have decided to share some fine arts posts (encouraged by our overlord Bill), and the oeuvre is, coincidentally, in relation to the oil on canvas painting I purchased yesterday, after a rather significant ten year gestation period between first having seen the artwork, and coming into the position to comfortably acquire it. The artist in question is Summer Mann, lifelong partner of renowned filmmaker Michael Mann (some of whose works I have shared here before, and who coincidentally, is easily the most influential individual in live action cinema to me). Together, they surely make for one of the few foremost American artist families over the past half-century. The work is simply titled 'man looking down', it was painted in 2009 and is 12x12 inches small. A brief dedication by Summer Mann's family members is likewise included below as I don't think most people will be familiar with her, or her work, by default. Thanks for looking, let's try and make art another stronghold of this exceptional digital venue! Filip

Back to Summer Mann — reminds me of the penitential music of Arvo Part — very humbling, not dark — thanks for sharing this work with us Filip.
