Some intimate shots and early impressions

Hello Chaps,

It’s been a month now and my honeymoon is still in full swing. Thought I would share some early impressions with you:

1. The dial is lovely and never grows old to look at. It’s extremely photogenic and different light opens different characteristics. The circular grained chapter ring pops. The printed dial helped keep the cost down for sure but in this instance I don’t feel it lacks application. There is enough viscosity in the ink for some depth to be acquired - you just need hungry eyes and a light source!

2. The complication is hugely useful. If any of you have read my book you will know that I do not classify this as a World Time Watch, instead it is a dual time with city aperture. What’s the difference? One additional time zone at a time. Further time with this complication has also confirmed to me that this is not really even a travel watch! I consider it to be the ideal watch for someone stationary but with interests abroad. There are easier watches out there to adjust on the fly and they make for the perfect travel watch. But for a guy like me with a boss in Shanghai and friends in NY I love to be able to track them in their own little dial.

3. The movement is great - it’s keeping exceptional time. I do however have an issue with what appears to be the slipping spring or the spring to disengage the winding stem - long story short, I cannot manually wind the watch. I know that it’s not particularly necessary but I am one to let my watches run dry so that I can have the pleasure of breathing  life into them. It’s also not as it should be so I will be taking it to the boutique as soon as I can handle the idea of being separated from it! It’s very well decorated for an in-houser at this price point and considering that it is all clearly machine-finished. Again, a sign of the pricing, and something I have literally bought into.

4. The strap is a surprise star. It doesn’t tend to show its blue in photographs and it wears extremely stiff initially, but it is now singing! I have a new Camille Fournet on its way to me as we speak - it has the potential to be perfect for this watch - I will be sure to share!

5. The dimensions are excellent. The 39mm diameter is perfection for a medium wrist. The thickness was one of my biggest concerns prior to trying he watch on, however it sits perfectly on my wrist and most of my cuffs are French, allowing ample safe harbour.

6. The case is one of the most impressive elements of the watch - the mixed brushed/polish finish is lovely, the lugs have great dimensions and the bezel is outstanding!

Overall I simply adore this watch!

Now for the pictures...
