Dear Purist,
I am extremely proud, humbled and excited to present my latest acquisition.
What started off as a slight interest in Yachting chronometers ended up in a large ruckus leading to a reshuffle of the collection.
Now that things have settled, I’m pleased to present an Omega 176.010 Yachttimer with silver dial. It has an automatic calibre 1040 coming from the 70s though this shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Once again I’m amazed at Omega’s courage to innovate using different colour, dial layouts, shapes and sizes. The interesting feature of this piece is of course the Yachting countdown timer along with a GMT function on the middle, left. The GMT function is extremely neat: it comes in the shape of a rotating plate on which is painted a arrow, and sits in the same location as the seconds. That is both cool and innovative!
Being such a technical watch where colour supports function, the dial is remarkably pretty and often gets complimented!
Enough from me; please enjoy the pictures!
Hugo
