I bought this stunning MINERVA watch from a fellow T'Zoner. It dates from that era between when the Frey family sold the company, and when it was eventually folded into MontBlanc. There was a period of time in the early 2000's when MINERVA was relaunched, and they spent a huge amount of money making their watches the highest grade possible. All movements were re-manufacured and upgraded (much of this is now the horological underpinning of the current 1858 Villeret collection). This large outlay of capital was one of the reasons they did not survive, but the watches from this very short period of time are stunning, and this one is no exception.
I brought to the MontBlanc boutique in Beverly Hills to see if it could be authenticated. I found out they do not do that in the US. They offered to send the watch to Germany. I said yes. The watch just came back with a letter of authenticity (the watch came without original papers - and I wanted that document for down the road). They charged me NOTHING. Nothing for the letter, nothing for the transit of the watch between the US and Germany - nothing.
Kimberly Prezioso who runs the Beverly Hills boutique was terrific, and all in all it was a great experienced. Very rare to be charged nothing for anything sent to Europe! A nice, happy ending.
