Hello Everyone,

Very pleased to have found this place. Seems to be the only watch spot around with a good number of Montblanc collectors.

I’ve been a fan of what Montblanc has done with Minerva for some time, and recently came across a watch I simply couldn’t pass up.

This is the limited edition green dial monopusher from 2018 featuring caliber 13.21. What a watch! Attached are a couple of photos that I took this morning.

I’m so impressed I’m thinking of adding another. Recently came across an unworn example of the Villeret 1858 Les Secondes au Centre Retour-à-Zéro. It’s the white gold version with the silver dial.

The watch will clearly need to be serviced. Does anyone here have any experience with sending these watches with Minerva movements back to Villeret for servicing? I talked to the local Montblanc boutique and they weren’t very helpful. They said they would have to send it to the third party servicing center that Montblanc uses here in the US, and then they would forward in on to Switzerland, but they had no idea how much it would cost or how long it would take.

Any insight from some of the more seasoned Montblanc collectors here would be much appreciated.

Blessings!

About the Montblanc 1858 Collection Ref. 1858

The Rolex Bubble Back, reference 1858, represents an early example of Rolex's self-winding waterproof wristwatches. This reference is part of the broader Bubble Back family, characterized by its distinctive domed case back designed to accommodate the thicker automatic movement of the era. It showcases Rolex's foundational efforts in developing robust and reliable automatic timepieces for everyday wear, laying groundwork for future Oyster Perpetual models.

This particular reference features an 18k white gold case, measuring 38mm in diameter. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal, protecting a silver dial. The watch is powered by an automatic movement, specifically the Boucheron 1858 caliber, offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The fixed bezel and leather strap complete the watch's classic presentation.

For collectors, the reference 1858 holds interest as an early and relatively rare iteration within the Bubble Back series, especially in white gold. Its larger case size for the period also makes it appealing to modern tastes. The presence of a date complication adds to its functionality, distinguishing it from simpler time-only Bubble Back models and highlighting Rolex's early integration of practical features.

Welcome here, first of all. Superb specimen. As for service centers, there are much better ones than others.

In the US, some of us had bad experiences. In France, the service was very satisfactory. Enjoy! Nicolas

The Seconds au centre retour à zéro is a pure marvel, by the way. Highly desirable.

It is an amazing watch! Not a style that I would normally gravitate towards, but something about it really speaks to me.
