It’s been a long journey, but well worth the wait. I don’t believe in “grail” watches, however I have lusted after a Kari Voutilainen watch for several years, having first met Kari at WatchTime New York in 2017 or 2018. Almost two years in the making, my 39mm Vingt-8 in platinum with blue enamel “optical illusion” center dial, grey anthracite circular barley engine turned guilloche outer ring, polished hands and arabic numerals at 12-3-6. The caliber 28 movement has Geneva waves and black gold color (movement pics to follow). Special thanks to Jonathan Sydel from Sydel

Question for you, how many dial designs or iterations did you go through to get to the end point? Or were you pretty set on a design from the beginning?

When I think about a KV I always worry that I wouldn’t be happy with the end result, due to not being capable of pulling together something both interesting and meaningful in terms of overall design. Enjoy your beautiful watch.
