Input please: A quick poll - preferred watch sizes?
G'day,
i recently noticed some discussion about the size of a watch.
Only few years ago a "regular" men?s wrist watch used to be 34-38mm, a classic dress watch 32-34mm and a chronograph watch around 40mm. Today many models are larger than 40mm and even 50mm. And it seems there are many arguments about the size, including improved readability vs. "bulky" appearance, fashion trend vs. new standard size. On the technical side there?s a bit arguing about bigger watches with smaller movements.
Regarding GP the new models of the Vintage1945 line are significantly larger; to some degree it?s caused by additional functions requiring a bigger case. Another example is the Classique Elegance 2002 measuring 38mm, while the Classique 94 and 95 used to be 34/36mm. Other watches like the Sea Hawk are available in different sizes.
I would like to hear your opinion and open the discussion. Not that much limited to watches by GP, but about watch sizes in general.
Just to throw in a few points:
- Which size(s) do you prefer as a daily wearer, chronograph or dress watch (not necessarily a GP model)?
- Big watches: Fashion trend or new standard?
- Is there a GP model you would like to see in a larger size? Or a smaller size?
I?m looking forward to read your appreciated comments!
Greetings from germany,
Peter
