Hook 'em Horns
In partnership with the Forty First Foundation and the University of Texas at Austin, Parmigiani today released a limited edition of its Tonda PF Sport Chronograph. This LE is limited to 40 pieces in steel and 10 pieces in red gold.
The limited edition watches are in the distinctive burnt orange colors of UT at Austin and bear the "Hook 'em Horns" logo on the case side.
According to its website, "The Forty First Foundation was established with a clear vision to support and advance The University of Texas at Austin in its pursuit of excellence. Burnt orange on a Parmigiani? Now that’s what I call haute horology meets Friday Night Lights.
Steel or rose gold, you can’t go wrong.
That really is a stunning looking Tonda PF Sport Chronograph in this new colorway.
The burnt orange really does look very good on the dial and surprisingly to me I also love the burnt orange strap as well as it just looks so good on this watch. Yet another winning combo from Parmigiani which is less of a surprise. Marc

It’s a pretty interesting idea here.
Not what you’d expect from a Swiss watch manufacturer. I wonder why they put a date window in the dial after having eliminated it from the new PF Sport.
I would be interested in the back story here, i.e., how the project came about. Partnering with a public university is unusual (maybe a first?).
It's also interesting that the watch is sold through the University and/or Foundation and not through Parmigiani dealers. I'm in agreement on the date issue . . . better without. M4
