I have the opportunity to acquire a Roger Dubuis Monopusher Chronograph. I am quite taken by this watch.
This particular piece has a 40mm round white gold case, cream dial, Arabic numerals, mixed rhodium and blued steel hands. The movement is a reworked and refinished new-old-stock pocket watch chrono from the 1940?s or 1950?s. There were only 7 of these made in white gold (Roger Dubuis personally wears one of these), and a few more than that made in yellow gold, about four or five years ago. Original list price was around $31k. (Sorry, I do not have a scan.)
I am looking for advice and information.
1) Can anyone point me to information on the original movement, its manufacturer, or its original application?
2) Is this movement a particularly notable example of the art?
3) Does anyone have a personal opinion of this watch?
I own several Dubuis (more of the early models, which ?speak to me? more than the later models.) And, I know that Dubuis is about to introduce a completely new monopusher movement of their own design.
What do you think?
