Definition on Independent or Independence is....
Free from outside control; not subject to another’s authority, not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence,not influenced by others; impartial & capable of thinking or acting for oneself.
A question that I have wanted to ask for quite a while is: What best describes a true Independent Watch Maker?
Is it the likes of Mr Philippe Dufour, Roger Smith, Kari Voutilainen, Richard & Maria Habring, Paul Gerber,Vianney Halter and many others who only make a small limited number of watches per year, from their small Atelier.
Or the likes of Rolex, Patek Philippe, Seiko and others who are independent of anyone and make their own decisions
Without having an outside influence, such as a parent group instructing them on how to run their business.
Please let me know your thoughts?
