Breguet lovers,
I purchased a WG retrograde seconds 5207 last year and on a trip to NY, the screw holding my band came loose and fell off. I retreived the screw from the hotel carpet and proceeded to the corner watch shop to have the screw tightened back in. This shop butchered the job - they stripped the slot of the screw and severely gouged (yes, gouged, not scrached) the case around the screw hole.
I went to my favorite AD and it may surprise you to learn in this day and age that both they and Breguet took accountability for the screw coming loose, without me even expecting or requesting this. The AD sent the watch to Breguet service, who not only replaced the WG screw with a new one, but they fixed the case and rhodium plated it to a brand new finish. Not only this, but they did a full service on the watch, all at no cost to me. They just gave me a gentle and very civilized reminder to never let the watch be touched by a non-Breguet repair shop.
I've got to tell you this was my favouraite daily wear watch for its elegance, comfort, accuracy and ease of reading the time (I also have a Vacheron DTR, Patek 5146 and 5296 and a UN GMT +/- Perpetual) and this became even dearer to me, given this rather emotional bond to the watch, after being so lovingly restored by Breguet after an assault by an unqualified watchmaker.
Needlesly to say, Breguet has won me over and I'll surely consider the brand for my next purchase. As an aside, my watch has not lost or gained a single second (!) for over a month since the service.
What more could one ask of such a traditional brand which not only makes exquisite timepieces, but backs them up with old-world service! Customer service is alive and well at Breguet and at my AD.
