Chronograph Mental Masturbation
In the world of horology, some purists believe the rattrapante movement is king and I totally agree! A minute repeater maybe more expensive or/and complex (although watchmakers may tell you a rattrapante is as difficult and complex to construct), for me a rattrapante movement transcends engineering and enters the realm of pure art. I adore the Datograph, Double Split, 5370, 5959 and 5170.........but since SIHH2018 the Triple Split has raised the bar once again and reignited my desire for rattrapante’s.
If money were no object, what chronograph/rattrapante would you buy and why?

For me it would be the PP 5370. Can't beat that deep black enamel dial.

I like the 5370, but 5970 would be the one for me, rattrapante or not.

The Double Split is technically superior to anything Patek has achieved, the Triple Split frankly destroys the competition. Yet the 5370P remains my favourite all round Rattrapante with the 1815 Rattrapante PC or Patek 5372 coming a close second.

some may moan about the size but this watch is the epitome of discreet elegance. The best of the best (in my opinion )

If I was to own this, I would be more than happy for it to be my only watch. This is pure Patek, it makes me think of what Patek used to be like, say 100 years ago. It will be on my wish list for when I win the lottery.
