I must have a strange attraction to Langes that the majority of the community finds a sacrilege,a no-no,devil s own.
I ve seen and tryed the new Datograph tonight...well the outcome was.....I love it!
I am sorry to tackle such a legend but the extra mm give the extra kick that I needed to contemplate this new Dato as a watch I would like to own....go figure why.
I liked the Dato but something was missing,,a bit too small a bit to thick.....the new one?just the right size,,,I liked it so much that I didnt even notice the Ab Auf power reserve
Finally a Lange I d like to have......well together with a couple others....

Well, I find it very deceiving, from my personal point of view.
But I was an unconiditional fan of THE Dato, the one and only one. 1 mm more rather than two, why not. But the subtle and powerful balance of the dial was really something. Now, it is not the case anymore. I find it sad. Best, Nicolas

Hi Mo Not sacriledge in this case.
I am still a fan of the original but like the Dato PR in that its a good transition from a mechanical point of view. It keeps the old DNA and enhnances with substance. Perhaps we will see a Dato dual time in due course?

I've never been a huge chronograph fan in general. But I really like the new Dato, especially compared to the old one. I find the dial to be cleaner and less cluttered. I hope you continue to enjoy it!

I do press those buttons on the occasion
Such as when my plane is running down the runway during take off, and i measure the time it takes from engines powering up to lift off! What i meant though is that chronographs are not at the top of my list, simply because they dont contribute to the rate...

I have a lot of chronos. You are absolutely correct. You don't use them that much. But pick up the Lange. Push the buttons. The butter feelings to die for. If you try other brands it is not the same. Look at the sweep second, especially in the right light...

The previous Dato had its shortcomings IMO, such as the low PR and the height/width ratio and never felt totally comfortable on my wrist. The next big jump would then be to the Double Split which again wasn't exactly the right fit for me, being just a tad...

This Datograph is a very successful evolution of the Datograph. We know that touching an icon is a difficult task and Lange managed to do it. Fx

The more I see the new version the more I like it
Initially it seemed almost wrong, compared to the classic. But on its own merits I now find myself fery fond of it. Balanced, clean, modern, well proportioned. I'm a fan.
