Senator Meissen
Stylish Classicism

A classically elegant men’s watch outfitted with the finest technology and an exquisite dial crafted in Meissen porcelain: These are the elements of the new Senator Meissen by Glashütte Original, exuding stylish classicism in its purest form. The Senator Meissen is in its appearance understated and reduced to its minimum. Thus, the historical hour and minute hand glide across the paper-think white porcelain dial in great style.

A dial with exceptional aesthetics has been created in conjunction with the renowned Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. The ceramic characteristics of porcelain – a pure white, shiny surface that has been very finely painted – perfectly complete this exquisite watch. The manufacture begins with the disk being shaped from a pliable mass of porcelain that is fired at 1,400°C. More processes ensure that its measurements fit the watch perfectly. Every disk undergoes strict quality control so that only hand-selected plates are painted. The dial’s Roman numerals are painted with the finest brushes by highly qualified script painters. Then the porcelain paints are applied in two layers, each of which is fired at 900°C in the kiln in order to get the desired depth of color. The Glashütte Original and Meissen logos, the latter being the famed crossed swords, are also applied by hand and then fired a final time.
The Senator Meissen is powered by finely finished manufacture Caliber 100-10, which is visible through the sapphire crystal case back of the solid rose gold case. With a base height of only 4.3 mm, this movement is the thinnest automatic movement in the collection. Its bilateral winding uses both sides of the rotor’s movement in order to fill the twin spring barrels quickly with energy. The larger power reserve of 55 hours also ensures easy handling of the watch, thus conforming to the needs of the modern customer.

Glashütte Original represents a living, authentic manufactory, high exclusivity, traditional watchmaking since 1845, exclusive mechanical masterpieces, and “Handmade in Germany.”
