Julius Assmann 4
Exclusive Masterpiece in Honor of
155th Anniversary of J. Assmann, Glashütte
Julius Assmann – this name from the history of the famed watch city Glashütte in Saxon remains alive today. The master watchmaker is always named in the same breath with the other founders of Glashütte’s watch industry, as one of its pioneers. Assmann settled in the Müglitz Valley in 1850, founding his own company in 1853 at the age of only 25, thus writing his own successful chapter of Glashütte’s watch history with his high demands on precision and perfect finishing. On the occasion of the 155th anniversary of the founding of J. Assmann Glashütte/i. Sa., the Glashütte Original manufacture has created a new masterpiece for the legendary Assmann edition: the Julius Assmann 4.
Once again, the designers and movement designers at Glashütte Original have proven their exceptional talent in creating the Julius Assmann 4. This skeletonized masterpiece of haute horlogerie is presented in a solid rose gold pocket watch case 45 mm in diameter. The elegant transparency of the movement and dial build a perfect setting for one of the greatest horological complications: the tourbillon.
The elegant 18-karat gold skeletonized elements of the white galvanized three-dimensional dial allow a look into the fascinating mechanics of manufacture Caliber 46. This movement is outfitted with a tourbillon secured by a bridge on both sides and a retrograde hour display. The high horological demands of Glashütte Original are once again revealed here: Precise skeletonization and lavish engraving of the flat parts and spring barrel make each of the 25 manufacture movements into a filigreed work of art without equal. Worn on the solid rose gold chain in a vest pocket or as a wristwatch, the new Julius Assmann 4 is an extravagant accessory for the gentleman.
Like all movements by the traditional manufactory, manually wound Caliber 46 was created using the traditional elements of Glashütte watchmaking on the perfectly finished movement. Alongside the hand-engraved wheel bridge, the connoisseur will recognize gold chatons, blued screws, beveled edges, polished steel parts, and double sunburst decoration on the winding wheels through this timepiece’s sapphire crystal case back.
This magnificent haute horlogerie pocket watch from the exquisite Assmann Edition can also be worn as a wristwatch on a Louisiana crocodile skin strap thanks to a lavishly designed case. The hinged lid possesses an engraved number from the manufactory’s registry, revealing its extreme limitation. Like the other models of the Assmann Edition, only 25 pieces of this technically and aesthetically demanding horological treasure will be created.
In commemoration of this groundbreaking watchmaker of Glashütte’s art of watchmaking, a limited edition comprising three horological treasures of technical and aesthetic perfection were created in the last few years. The Julius Assmann 1 excited the watch world with a new design of a flying tourbillon in honor of the 150th anniversary of Glashütte’s art of watchmaking. The Julius Assmann 2 was created in conjunction with the equally as traditional Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. And, as an homage to the 175th birthday of the famed Glashütte watchmaker, Glashütte Original created the Julius Assmann 3 in 2002. This year, the German company adds another masterpiece to the exclusive edition with the Julius Assmann 4.
Glashütte Original represents a living, authentic manufactory, high exclusivity, traditional watchmaking since 1845, exclusive mechanical masterpieces, and “Handmade in Germany.”
