A visit to the Olympic Omega boutique....for a feast of vintage delights, and exibition:
Today was one of those days you remember for a long time...I was meeting fellow purist GregD for a mini Panerai GTG, and we agreed to meet at the Omega boutique in Westfield in Stratford...the Olympic boutique!
Fortuitously, it was pouring with rain, which meant it was better waiting inside than out! As they say in Essex, OHHH MAAA GOD, what was inside was beyond what one could have imagined. We quickly knew this had to be shared with all our purists friends, and we were graciously hosted by Julia Kamenetskaya, who was fantastic and a big thank you to you.
The boutique has an ongoing Olympic exhibition, showing the amazing timing instruments used at the games in the past. You can ask for a guided tour, and you do not need to have an appointment! It really is a must do for anyone who loves horology, myself and Greg thoroughly recommend it.
As well as the Olympic timing instruments, there is a veritable feast of vinatge Omega watches on permanent display.
Upstairs we were shown the conference room. This is available for patrons to use and has been used for various events including a James Bond launch. Both myself and Greg immediately thought of an Olympic Purists GTG here, and I have to say Julia was definately keen on the idea....let me work on it!
Finally, some good news for all those needing servicing for their pieces, the boutique has three watchmakers on the premises with faster turn around times.
