Here is my most recent acquisition. I've been looking for a nice example for some years, ever since I first salivated over Zaf Basha's description and photos of the model in his excellent collector's guide to Jaeger-LeCoulte.
This special model was "made only in 1949 honoring Jacques-David LeCoultre who died a year earlier in 1948." According to his book, the special cal. 486/A was produced for the European market and 486/AW for export to the USA, in a ratio of 1-to-9 (500 and 4500 total pieces). The European cases were in solid14K (unusually) and American cases made in 10K gold fill by Keystone. If anyone has a 14K JLC version, please show it!
By the way, this is rather small for today's tastes, but refreshingly so. About the size of a vintage Reverso (23 x 40 mm).
I'm trying to get all of my images to embed within the body of the message...I can view them by clicking on the left button on the upper right -- please, some help, moderator! Thanks.
Cheers,
