A Spark of Warmth in the Harsh New York Winter - Yellow Gold L.U.C. Quattro Regulator

A Spark of Warmth in the Harsh New York Winter

- Z3

This L.U.C. Quattro Regulator GMT with 8 day power-reserve is my favorite Chopard.

The muscle flexing movement combine interesting aesthetics (regulator hands) yet very practical complications (GMT, date, second-hand, and 8-day power-reserve, though based on my experience it can really last closer to 9 days).

On the front side, the dial color contrast is vibrant, the different sub-dials and raised arabic numerals provide depth, the sun-ray style guilloche embodies excitement and flair... So painstakingly crafted - look at the faceted and polished hands!!

The backside offers another visual treat. The 4-barrel in-house manual-wind caliber 1.98-37089, introduced in 2004, is beautiful. All the traditional movement finishings are showcased here: the flawless and straight Cote-de-Geneve, the highly polished anglage, and perlage that is mostly hidden beneath the top plate away from our eyes (as one Chopard executive elegantly puts it, "The L.U.C. movements are as beautiful on the inside, as on the outside").

It is adorned with the Geneva Seal as well as the COSC certificate, providing comfort that there is "substance" under all that "beauty".

The yellow gold case gives off a nice glow every time I look at it. It is one of my winter watches, offering me emotional warmth, and helping me get through the harsh grayness of the New York winter.
