A Present for my Daughter......
You are getting a first look at the custom RGM my wife and I had make for my daughter as a graduation gift. We plan to give it to her on May 27th letting her know how proud we are for her graduating from medical school.
It is a relatively new size at 35mm that RGM has begun marketing for ladies. It is named the RGM 107E and contains an ETA 2892 automatic caliber. The dial is engine turned by Roland on one of his antique rose engines. The case and movement have been very well finished in distinctive RGM style. As you can see it is a three hand movement with date.
Printed on the inside of the sapphire crystal in the case back reads: Dr. Anne Marie Floyd// May 27, 2012. The serial number of the watch is 2557. Adding 2+5+5=12 which is the month of her birth, and 7 represents the day of her birth.
Why RGM? I took Anne Marie to all of her medical school interviews, one of which was in Philadephia and another in Virginia. While in Pennsylvania the two of us spent four hours in Mount Joy visiting RGM, being graciously hosted by both Roland and Rich. It resulted in my buying a custom RGM which I have shared in an earlier post with all of my PuristS friends.
When my daughter heard that we were considering a watch, she told us is we elected to give her one, she only wanted a RGM. She loved that trip we took even though she chose neither school which we visited. I was concerned about her choice of a RGM because I did not think they yet made a ladies watch but on a phone call to Rich, he told me they were putting the finishing touches on their first ones....he saved the day!

I personally know Roland and have visited his atelier in Mount Joy. I saw his 5 restored vintage rose engines that he uses in his atelier and seen them in action. He is quite talented with his guilloche work. Through the 20 years RGM has been established ...

i agree with Bim, you have a very lucky daughter. in fact knowing you as i do your family are all very lucky to have you as their husband/dad. its a really nice watch in a decent size. i'm sure she will love it. best G
