Let me just say this pandemic and lack of travel is driving me crazy πŸ™ŠπŸ™‰πŸ™ˆ So here is the story about this 5270G, short and sweet.

I was tasked to help a friend sell this beauty as he wanted to buy something else. I asked a few collector friends but nothing turned out.

Long story short, the price was fair and I said "Fxxk it, why not."

Although I prefer the 5970 series for the Lemania movement and history, I have to say after wearing this 5270G for a while, it is growing on me. I really like the case and lugs as well as the sterile dial πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Maybe I can see having a 5270P salmon dial in the future after all if I cannot find a salmon 5970 or 5970P. Who knows πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Been on a binge lately and my wife is even giving me the side eye πŸ‘€πŸ˜’πŸ‘.

Guess you can call me the BLACK HOLE where unwanted watches go to die 🀣🀣

Now the fun part, time to order some bespoke straps πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Here's a quick and dirt photo. It is a cloudy evening in Lyon πŸ˜•

About the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5270

The Patek Philippe Grand Complications reference 5270 is a perpetual calendar chronograph, succeeding the highly regarded reference 5970. It represents a significant evolution in Patek Philippe's grand complications lineup, being the first perpetual calendar chronograph to feature an in-house developed movement. This transition from a modified Nouvelle Lemania base caliber to a fully integrated Patek Philippe movement marks a notable advancement in the brand's technical independence and horological prowess. The 5270 maintains the classic aesthetic of its predecessors while introducing subtle design refinements.

The reference 5270 is housed in a 41 mm case, available in 18k white gold, rose gold, or yellow gold. The case design is characterized by a concave bezel and two-tier lugs, contributing to its distinctive profile. It is powered by the manual-winding caliber CH 29-535 PS Q, an integrated chronograph movement with a perpetual calendar mechanism. This movement offers a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is protected by a sapphire crystal, ensuring water resistance up to 30 meters.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking a modern interpretation of a classic grand complication from Patek Philippe. Its in-house movement and refined case details distinguish it within the brand's offerings. Multiple dial variants have been produced, including silver, blue, and opaline, providing collectors with a range of aesthetic choices. The 5270 continues the tradition of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronographs, offering a blend of technical sophistication and traditional design.

I hear you Raymond but believe me my friend, for us who are plagued with this horological disease, there really is NO exit watch πŸ€ͺπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

There are many grail type watches indeed but even if by some miracle or in a parallel universe I was as rich as Bezos and could pick up Paul Newman's PN, the 1 of 1 Grand Master Chime, etc...I still cannot see me exiting this great community or passion. It is ridiculous to say but I get as much pleasure wearing a simple Rado ceramica, a Speedmaster of various types, a JLC or Lange, or any if my vintage Rolex Daytonas. This year will be the 29th year I have been collecting so after all that time

LOL Gordon, what do you think happened with the COMET (3710/1A) 🀣🀣🀣. I have a weakness for nice watches. They're just "too Purdy." 🀣😜
