This is a difficult situation...
On one side, there is limited production capacity of LUC, always heard about 5~6000 pcs/year.
On other side, Chopard is a family business but we hear good things about Mr KFS, wanting just the best for the brand and collectors, not the hype.
I hope they control and handle this well.
I am sure there will be other dial colors coming, collaboration etc and who knows if this XPS will eat into the pie of other LUC production allocations?
For selfish reasons I hope not, but this is also a way to bring collectors into the brand, and I hope they see who are real collectors, not just take this piece and run kind of "specollectors"
On the technical side, I think this new XPS got the correct formula of the famous category of Sport's chic watch like the 2 famous ones you mentioned.
Regardless, I can't wait to get mine.

I guess they try to follow the Czapek success more than any other brands. I see a nice watch improved in aesthetic and mechanics, but any comparison with RO and Nautilus is biased by market value.

Your numbers are way off my friend. I was with KFS and Maxime for several days...the LUC department of Chopard produces around 1000 pieces annually and has done so for the past few years 😉
Quality is on par, if not better than their direct competitors as well. And so you know, there is a couple of surprises not yet seen that are game changers IMHO 😉🤫🤫🤫

I immediately placed an order for it when I saw few shots in Feb. Have the steel blue version, 8hz grey and this would be my third and hopefully the final one of the AE . Sucker for salmon dials and I hope they would keep it limited supply ..
Thanks for a thought-provoking post Michael, and glad that Chopard has produced one of the highlights of the show! An underrated "Indie with history" (my favorite mix! ;-) that has been working hard and well recently, and is deservedly being recognized.
Will this new Alpine Eagle XPS ever reach Nautilus or Royal Oak status? Obviously impossible to tell at the get-go, but highly unlikely. There's no-one who loves Patek Philippe more than me on this planet, and yet, it is hard to imagine the Nautilus itsel...

I really like this watch and hope that Chopard will be able to manage this model well and don’t milk it dry with many different colours dials moving forward.
I do not think it will reach Nautilus or Jumbo status anytime soon purely based on branding. I personally like it more than a 5711. And hopefully Chopard does not go the Lange Odysseus route either by requiring bundling.
