Hi all! I wanted to know, how many of you have bought their holy grail watch and how did it feel, initially and over time? I'm a younger collector and I've set myself the goal of acquiring a first generation datograph in platinum. However, I'm an engineer...

and I agree, buying second hand is the way to go. I definitely get caught thinking of purchases as commitments rather than something that can be reversed to regain the money. Thanks for the response, and the good points!

You have an outstanding watch but to answer your questions I think the dream watch is a dream watch until the next dream watch comes along. For me utopia in a watch is a living moving object that is constantly changing. The trick is to find your comfort z... 

I guess in some ways having a constantly revolving collection would be one way to experience the best watches out there. I think I would feel guilty though after spending so much money on a precious object, to over time grow bored and want something new. ...

Your question is difficult and it requires a lot of self reflection. The answer will be different for everyone depending on a lot of factors like how much you will enjoy the watch, what else might you spend the money on that might bring you more enjoyment...
