Yes,the micro rotor is also noisy with my watch.
In fact,this rattling sound is part of the 1.96 inherent design.

It never looked "barren" to me. But I'll have to pay more attention to that next time I see it! Your photo does seem to illustrate it quite well.
The LUC Qualité Fleurier is another superb watch from Chopard.
Although I cannot really understand the huge price difference to my "Forest Green".
