Chopard

How smart will Chopard be about the new Alpine Eagle 41 XPS and future editions?

Armis asks a great question about other versions.

Miranda has already placed this watch in rarefied air with the AP Jumbo and Patek 5711.

I very much like it and messaged my dealer Monday morning the moment I saw it.  I would never trade my AP Jumbo for it, but I see it as a great compliment and something different.  I'm sure it is magnificent on the wrist.

But we have seen Chopard quickly roll through other dial versions on the Alpine Eagles.  It sounds like initial production will be very low.  But if this same watch comes out with a blue dial, a black dial, a green dial, another new version for Revolution or Joe's Watch Blog or whatever, forget it.  It will never be on par with the others, regardless of how good it is.

I happen to buy what I like, and if it is super rare or mass produced, I really don't care.  But nobody likes to lose 50% value on a new watch, so hopefully Chopard can control themselves and keep the brakes on this "future icon".
