Chopard L.U.C QUALITÉ FLEURIER and L.U.C XPS FOREST GREEN ( 2024 ).

Two " new " offers, should I call them iterations, this year, with these two watches.

The L.U.C Qualité Fleurier is 39 mm big, 8, 92 mm high. while the XPS Forest Green is 40 mm big and 7, 20 mm high.

Not the same cases, as you will see, even if both of them are in steel.

The " Qualité Fleurier "

The XPS Forest Green

The Qualité Fleurier has a more exquisite case, but I prefer the proportions of the XPS Forest Green.

Now, both have the same issue, in my opinion: The Small Second is too centered. I would prefer seeing it lowered and bigger.

On the LUC 1860 from last year, it was more harmonious, but the case was smaller ( 36, 5 mm ) :

Another detail I would change on both versions from this year is the case diameter: 37 for the first one, 38 for the second one. THAT would maybe solve the issue of the too centered small second. And it would add some more elegance to these superb watches.

Food for thought!

What do you think?

Best,

Nicolas

Both are really nice.

These were some of the only one's that really caught my attention from this year's W&W. Of course you mention the issue with the too central small seconds counter which is inevitably due to the rather small movement size. Is it the dial design or the ...

Thanks for this mini-review of two of the highlights of W-W for me.

First, I am more drawn to the forest green — I think Chopard got that shade of green, for my tastes, perfect. Second, I agree about the placement of the small seconds — I think I could forgive that, especially at that price point, but then again, it might...

Like not love.

I like both but love neither. Not even sure I can articulate the reason. Isn't that how love always is, LOL? I find the price variation between the two watches surprising. Apparently the QF certification is rather costly?? Thanks for the post. M4

Same for me. Like but not love.

The dials are both somehow not special. In terms of case for me it is hands down the QF, as also the crown, bezel are so much nicer and to my liking. But again, neither is special enough imho. For me special classic this year was the PF Toric, in platinum...

The dial of the Qualite Fleurier is….

Interesting and confounding. It is two different hues - green (I’m told - I’m color blind) from some angles and more silverish from others. Intriguing, but I like the silver and not so much the green At W&W, I tried to capture the difference via iPhone bu...

Love that shade of green!

Although I agree, the seconds subdial is placed a little high

So right Nico

In fact if they did these in 37-38mm I'd think they were both better than the LUC 1860, whose dial design doesn't attract me nearly as much

I like these new releases

My problem is the center seconds too high up, as described. Other than that I like the QF case better. I had this issue when offered a LE montblanc minerva salmon dial heritage. I loved the movement and finishing, but the CS was too high. I wish these man...

I understand.

LUC Chopard is always a stunning timekeeper,

However, the position of the small second here is and always was a deal breaker! This position is for woman’s watches! And I can say that I have small wrists! Personally - if the small seconds would not be an issue - I would go for the green XPS, as it is...

Agreed, the seconds subdial is too centered.

BECAUSE the case is bigger and the movement is still the same size! With the hands not having moved, the design proportions seem slightly off. The 36.5mm version is the way to go here.

Agreed.
