The dial is busy as is and they still decided to add a date (window) which isn't necessary.
Do companies realize this? I can't imagine a lot of people care if their watch has a date or not. Style/looks should be above practicality.

While there are many of us that prefer watches without date windows...
By and large the majority of watch buyers appreciate having a date. And most Mille Miglias have one (the 90th Anniversary in RG [CLICK] didn’t for instance), so it would be a case of quite some reengineering to remove it. But I agree with your general sen...

I don't mind a date window but the dial is so busy that the date doesn't pop out. You have to actively look for it.
