Although I’ve been into horology since high school, my first true watch in this journey was a Cartier Roadster back in 2003:
This was my daily wearer for more than a decade. However, as my collection grew, she had become a ‘safe queen.’ I traded her in 2022:
Cartier had discontinued their Roadster collection back in 2012. The collection was revived this year during Watches & Wonders:
This updated collection still has the recognizable Roadster silhouette. The most noticeable change is that the screws have been removed from the lugs and replaced with rivets on the bezel:
The Roman numbers, which are now stamped, reach to the other edges of the dial unlike the previous generation:
The sword hands have also been refined:
The case has also been refined with curvatures to provide more of a wrist-hugging level of comfort for the wearer:

I think they nailed it. Faithful to the DNA with appealing modifications. Very nicely done and I look forward to seeing in person.
From your pictures they look VERY attractive…
but what is your verdict as a previous owner? Is this impressive enough to entice you [theoretically] to want one?
Yes! I’m going to apply the same strategy as I did with my recently acquired Skipper:
1. Wait for the hype to die. 2. Wait for availability at ADs. 3. Negotiate pricing.
Smart, I like that!
ADs don’t budge on pricing anymore, but I guess not surprising for any new releases.
It’s great to get a review from someone who’s owned a Roadster. That’s an impressive first watch!
I have always found the style to be intriguing ( love the tie to cars ) and I’m impressed with the blue dial, I hope to see it live soon.

In part, I simply do not like the shape and prominence of the cyclops. But, that being said, it seems like a true-to-form reintroduction of a watch appreciated by many.
I still think the proportions of the original are better.
But I'm glad they reintroduced it.. ...
