Cartier

For a limited release, such a material-based offering is fine…

and maybe appreciated, albeit by a very small number of people in the region for the reason you are wondering about, IMHO. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, most local buyers of luxury watches in GCC do not adhere to that tenet of Islam. I figure Cartier and other brands know this too, otherwise you’d have many more such options available. Instead, I regard this (and similar releases e.g. Patek World Time - Mecca edition) as a culture-driven release, as opposed to a religious tenet-driven one, with the main focus of attraction being the use of green and eastern arabic numerals. If there really was a market of “practicing” (define that as you like) buyers, then I would expect more steel production models as an option. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Regardless, I think such tasteful LE culture-driven offerings appeal to a wider audience precisely because sophisticated people such as the members of this forum recognize and appreciate different cultures, traditions, and arts. Recognizing that, hopefully luxury brands can expand their offering of what I call culture-driven releases to include more accessible/affordable and interesting materials like steel, titanium, etc.
