I must say the first wrist shot actually looks pretty good. Overall the dial has been tidied up but has probably lost some character in the process. I love the original font used for the numerals in the GG version. It's pretty difficult to make a yes/no d... 

I feel like the old version has a vintage look to it ...perhaps this is the 'character' that you refer to. It's comparable to the way that old volkswagon bug or mini cooper has more character than the new versions of these cars. Yet the new versions still...

I liked the black dialed version of the Gerald Genta Gefica very much. To me when I saw it in person, it's probably was the most "Genta" watch that I liked and possibly the "perfect" Genta that best suited me. But with this new Bulgari designed Gefica, I ...

Simply because i think the redesign is abit busy with all the different numbers. Maybe take out one row? Also i still dont understand the reason for putting the caliber type in each of the new bulgari watches. Why?

I will have to take note of this question and find out from our Bulgari sources since this is present for many of their models.

...It is similar but also very different in character...shinier, newer, cleaner...perhaps more suited for a weekend yachting or racing trip rather than a safari.

i personally would describe it as contemporary alterations, i would say the word vintage was taken so seriously by GG , that they locked the watch into a certain frame .... and in that frame the watch used to evoke with vintage feeling that's unbearable s... 

...Yes, it's very interesting to look at and has a trunk load of character but things that have 'vintage' appeal usually have limited audiences. Bulgari can perhaps ensure GG's survival by updating the watch with what you say, a "contemporary vintage" loo... 

and i have to speak out honestly , when i heard about bulgari taking the lead of GG and DR , i had totally different image from the current one , and let me say im so appreciating the effort , and amazing outcome. Faisal

I always loved the Gefica, from the beginning, besides the fact that it was way too large for me. The bronze case, that changes in color, depending on the climate it's in, was a unique point, that I loved, the typography, with those slim tall characters w...

Versus the new (new) version. The cavities before 0 and after 60 seem strange. I wish they had made it a bit smaller, like 41-42. That's just too big for me as it is. This is the old (old) non-retro version....  

Very nice vintage Gefica you have there cazalea. It's interesting to see some of the design elements like the little nubs around the case as part of the newer versions. Regards, ED-209

Hi Ping, I think the two Geficas demonstrate this very subtle difference The new Bulgari Gefica is so clean, elegant. I really like this dial change quite a lot. BUT How do you read the seconds, minutes, and date easily when the stubby stylized observator... 

I didn't even notice that but completely valid point. There is certainly a divide between what appeals to watch enthusiasts vs. non-watch enthusiasts. This brings us back to a question I posed a few months ago, "Who exactly is Bulgari trying to sell to?" ... 

I prefer the original one..... But you also would like to know why... Well, the romantic reason is obvious... The new dial has a modern touch, which is not a bad thing... I would like to see it in metal.... But I also prefer the GG on the dial in the plac... 

Thanks Kong and Ping for the comparison between the old and new version of the Gefica. Great pics! For me, I like the new dial, it seems easier to read and I like the cutouts areas near the 5 and 8 o'clock area on the dial. The only design detail from the... 

I personally liked the white dial version of the old Gefica better than the black. Does the new version come with a white face and does any one have a picture of it?

What a boring re-design... No doubt it will do well but it strikes me as a dumbing down on the orginal with so few design cues and originality as to make it visually bland. Uninspiring and dull.

...but the case remains challenging for me. On one hand, I love the steampunk aesthetic, on the other, I kind of find it a bit too weird (for my wrist). It's one of those pieces that appeals to me, but probably wouldn't make its way into my collection. Ch...
