It's not at 30 seconds, it's at the "top of the minute" as shown on the outer 360 degree scale which shows seconds
Only the inner scale / retro minutes is half-way around and has 30 at the top.
The second hand goes all the way around the dial and is not a retro hand.
If you have the watch in your hand for a couple minutes it would be clear; the fact that the outer scale is not marked around the bottom leads to this confusion

Haha...for sure that would be one way to do it. I just figured I’d try to capture the event in a more organic way. For me, staying up till midnight would be the limiting factor anyway LOL.
