Breguet 1775 225th Anniversary Watch. A quick review.

 By: amanico : June 11th, 2018-11:45
The Breguet 1775 is a watch I owned for some years, and which I let go, with some retrospective regrets. Finding another one is an impossible mission, as I rarely saw one for sale during all these last years, two, to be precise, and the one I just photogr...

Perfect if only …

it had a large date window. The marketing department won’t be happy )

Rightly so! ;) [nt]

Thanks for sharing, I had never heard of this watch.

It's excellent!

Beautiful watch, Nico.

I have a soft spot for Breguet. I regret selling my Type XX 10 years ago. That’s a mistake I may have to correct. I’m curious about why prefer manual movement? Is it just the tactile experience you like? Thinness? Just curious as I don’t usually have a pr...

Yes! [nt]

It is a beautiful watch, understated but that's what I would also look for in a watch like this.

I agree with you if it was manual it would be perfect. For me it is mostly because rotor blocks half of the finely decorated movement, and since it has no date to keep correct all the time, it is not necessary. I'm curious why Breguet doesn't offer many m...

People buy automatics, apparently.

There are always a few manuals in the Breguet line-up, though.

That is true, especially for the people with one or two watches.

But I'm guessing Breguet's customers generally own a handful of watches, so they probably would not care for automatic as much. Of course that depends on how they rotate their watches...

It's gorgeous.

And if it has to be automatic at least the rotor is exquisitely decorated.

I can!

Partly skeletonized. Engraved.

I also came across this piece that didn't have the second case back. Would've been seriously tempted.

The combination of Breguet and enamel just makes sense.

Too bad there aren't more full sets available

Do take a look at the 5175 Ginza anniversary piece that came out last year. On paper it shares a lot of the same charm as the 1775. Suppose the 10 pieces would've found their owners by now. A beautiful piece nevertheless.

Officially now

thanks for sharing Nico...

on all accounts i agree with your comments...esp. the movement choice :-( i also feel one another factor which irks me a bit...the location of the logo in the dial - probably there is a bit of 'get used to' factor ! Best, mahesh.,

As for the location of the Signature, maybe it is because of the watch which inspired the 1775...
