Breguet

Some thoughts …

Dear Tassos,

These sorts of deliberations are always fun. I personally would not add a 7337 to your collection:

Dress wise they serve the same purpose – they are both formal dress watches.

From the perspective of workmanship and finish you have got much the same to look at – Breguet hands, moonphase, roman numerals, guilloche and the fluted Breguet case.

The movement finish in the 7337 is disappointing as we discussed previously, particularly in relation to your perpetual.

Keeping in the Breguet line if you want a tourbillon I think Nicolas’ suggestion of the 40mm Messidor is a very good one. I have seen it behind a glass case but not handled it. The size, proportions and design looked close to perfect to me. Some of the older skeletonized tourbillons come up at auction occasionally and look amazing as well.

The Tradition Tourbillon is growing on me, but it is a watch you need to see and handle to decide. Again, viewed behind a glass case, the proportions were not immediately appealing, although I liked the chain & fussee and the large, almost old world, tourbillon cage and balance.  It strikes me as a watch that would be great to own amongst a collection, but not a watch I would wear very often.

Decisions, decisions …

Andrew
