Hi everyone,
This is a very short post, just to relax as the weekend approaches.
I was just curious when people saw their first Breguet watch - I mean in real life, their "First time".
I'll share mine with you: ...it was in Seoul, while on holiday. I was introduced to it by my wife (yes, very strange I know!). We were walking in the Lotte AvenueL department store - on the watchmakers floor. As we passed in front of an AD, and I was ready to head up to other brands, my wife stopped me and pointed out Breguet watches to me through the glass - of which, I confess I hadn't really heard of (I know, that's sad!). Being Russian, she mentioned Pushkin's 1829 verses from Evgeny Onegin, which everyone of you of course probably heard of already. As she recited the verses, I looked more carefully at the watches, and my heart started ticking very fast - as if the watch frequency were contagious...Classique ones, Marine ones...all so beautiful!
That was it! From that time onwards, I knew I had to have one...
Anyone want to share their first encounter - whether driven by passion or reason - we would be very interested to hear you!
While the older of you try to remember (or just finish reading this silly post), Onegin's verses about Breguet in Russian read like this - the game for you is to recognise in which verse the word Breguet appears (not very difficult):
(not sure if fonts will read ok in this post, but I will try)
"...Надев широкий боливар,
Онегин едет на бульвар
И там гуляет на просторе,
Пока недремлюший Брегет
Не прозвонит ему обед..." (1829)
