Guilloche for days
On the one hand, I can't help but think that this 5177 at 38.5mm with those long Breguet lugs is bigger than I want such a watch to be, and that something like this is at its best at 35 or 36mm (or even smaller) like some older Breguets.
On the other hand, two of the things that are so wonderful to me about this watch are the gorgeous expanse of guilloche and the long long slim hands, and you can't get those things on a small dial. Guess I'll have to keep it!

They may change the lugs.

38mm should be ok for many people but imo the lugs are not the best design element of Breguet, otherwise the case and the dial are sublime. Actually it might be the only reason I still haven’t got a Breguet. Ok the lugs were always like this and I underst...
Exactly!

They might just shorten and angle the lugs as you said, I love the coin edge of Breguet cases, it is iconic and beautiful, I wouldn’t dream of hindering that part of the design for new lugs however I have every confidence in them to come up with a more fl...
A very lovely piece!

I was considering adding this to my collection. For me, this version is the nicest. I like this guilloche the best. Also in white gold, although I like pink as well. But the real thing for me is that the hours are Roman numerals and the date is Arabic. Th...

With mblum, I think you are exactly right that the date window works better with this dial than the enamel. I'll give another reason: the enamel dial is smooth, clean, undifferentiated, with only painting on it... EXCEPT for the hole cut in it for the dat...
