Disappointing

After trying on the Classic Souscription, I asked to try on the new Type XX Chronographe 2075.

The silver dial limited edition ref. 2075BH/G9/398 wasn't available, but I could handle the regular black dial ref. 2075BH/99/398 (I dedicated a thread to both variants here).

I thought I would like it very much, but was disappointed, despite the good 38.3 mm diameter. The execution is fine and I generally like these warm tones, but I think this watch just didn't feel right to me in rose gold. It's a pilot's watch, a tool watch, and rose gold with a dark dial feels just too dressy. The identity of the watch seems somehow distorted.

I guess I was also not very fond of the faceted lugs: they felt strange or clumsy rather than beautiful to me.

And the decoration of the main plate on the back felt a bit "cartoonish" or rather simply "decorative" in a not so positive way...

On photos, I liked this reference more than the limited edition with silver dial, but now I think I would like the limited edition better, because it is clearly conceived as a dress watch. That said, the faceted lugs and main plate decoration would probably still feel not completely convincing.
