another strap option for 3880
Feb 23, 2016,02:14 AM
Hi there,
even the question had been asked some time ago, I'm likely to share my strap option, which date back to 2015.
I picked the rubber strap, which came with my Marine Chrono 5827. As this watch is a gold one, I've found out it look much nicer (for my guess) with a light brown leather strap.
The rubber strap remain unused, until I got the idea to wear it on my 3880, instead of the steel bracelet.
I went to the Breguet Boutique at the heart of Vienna and the nice guys there provided me with a deployant clasp, originally sold with the steel Breguet GMT 5857.
Then I fiitted the 5857 deployant clasp to the rubber strap originating from the 5827 - and here we go, another look of the 3880....
Frankly there is a minor drawback: The distance between lugs for the 3880 is a little more (23mm) than as it is with the Marine series (22mm).
So there is now a 0.5 mm gap to the lugs on each side of the strap. I could live with this.
One last thought about my decision to get the 5857 deployment clasp instead of the also available 3880 steel clasp:
The buckle part from the Marine 5857 series deployant clasp looks much more solid than the one that comes with the 3880, if with leather strap.
The 3880 series steel clasp is also approx. four times cheaper, than the marine clasp.
You're invited to make up your own mind...see the pics.
