Breguet

Spoke to Breguet

Well, I spoke to a senior member of the staff at the outlet.  Far more knowledgable, and much more helpful.  He indicated that the Reine de Naples has an off-centered balance and uses a uni-directional (counter-clockwise) winding motion.  It requires at least 700 TPD to wind.  This answers part of my question.

In addition, he mentioned that the watch might have an overbanking problem (having the balance staff oscillate so quickly that the fork of the lever fails to engage, rendering the escapement inoperative therefore causing it to run "fast" when fully wound).  If this is the case it'll need to go back to Switzerland to be re-built!  In any case, I am pleased at the detailed response, and overall good customer service.

I'm going to do some further testing to see if this is the issue.  Mystery solved ... I find myself with an acceptable answer to the issue ... the only unfortunate thing for my wife is potentially having to lose the watch for a few months while it is serviced!
