Well Said
Hi Nico
I think you captured the idea of the X Fathoms well. Why should progress stand still? Is there not room to evolve a classic using today's materials and some new innovations? That is the idea of the X Fathoms. The original Fifty created by Jean-Jacques Fiechter was a triumph. It represented the best thinking about what divers needed and he developed a lot of inventions to make the watch a reality. The X Fathoms evolves the core ideas further and it offers performance and functionality unmatched by any other diving watch.
Some have suggested that professional divers would not wear the watch, preferring their dive computers. In fact, I know several incredibly talented professional divers who do wear the X Fathoms. They find it better for some things than their dive computers.
But at bottom, I like the idea that we are not imprisoned by the past and can bring inventions such as silicium spirals, liquid metal membranes, sapphire bezels, titanium cases, new straps systems etc into the world of the Fifty Fathoms.
