I prefer the titanium case and bracelet as it feels even more crisp than the steel one. I am also not a particular fan of the dark grey sunburst dial in the stainless steel version and think the vertically brushed dial fits the tool watch esthetic better.

I regularly wear 47mm Panerai. I do feel 38mm might be a bit small for me, and it seems these to tend run/feel smaller.
I suggest you also consider the titanium version on the titanium bracelet.
